International Women’s Day

Each year around the world, International Women’s Day (IWD) is celebrated on March 8. Thousands of events are held throughout March to mark the economic, political and social achievements of women. Each year the United Nations declares an overall International Women’s Day theme.
The UK theme for 2012 is ‘Connecting Girls- Inspiring Futures’.
Nicola Jones, a family solicitor at Poole Alcock LLP, attended the Chester Women’s Aid Day on 8th March 2012 to support the event and raise awareness of important issues relating to women. She offered free legal advice and support on a wide range of family matters including divorce, contact and non-molestation. A number of other experts were also available to discuss issues with regards domestic violence, women’s refuge, trans-genders and women’s muilticultural groups.
