Resolution are a national organisation of family law professionals, who focus on a constructive and non-confrontational approach to resolving family law matters. Each year they launch a campaign to raise awareness of different family issues.
This year the focus is on Cohabiting Couples. Cohabiting Couples are the fastest growing family type in the UK, but there are still a number of misconceptions about what rights unmarried couples, who live together have.
Many believe that they enjoy rights as a ‘Common Law’ Husband or Wife. Unfortunately this is not a legally recognised term and separating couples are often shocked to learn the limited extent of their legal status, even after years of living together and having children.
Our team of specialist family lawyers are lending their support to Resolution’s campaign by offering free initial consultations to unmarried couples to discuss the risks and how to minimise these. Contact us using this form to arrange an appointment now and discuss your options with one of our team.
