A team of volunteers from Poole Alcock joined the Cheshire East Rangers on Saturday morning to help tidy and clear a section of the Wheelock Rail Trail in Sandbach.
As part of our continued commitment to community projects, our team of volunteers helped to clear a section of land behind the platform area of the trail, remove weeds and rubbish from the path and generally tidy up.
Anna Burns, Partner at Poole Alcock said “It was lovely to be outside in the sunshine helping out the Rangers, knowing that we’re doing something useful for the environment that we live in. The Rangers have such a large area across South Cheshire to maintain, it’s virtually impossible to keep on top of everything all the time. Offering up our services for a few hours has helped them achieve a bit more today than what they had planned to do by themselves, which is great. We all share the same environment and so we’re more than happy to help out, especially when the sun is shining!”
Before the team got to work…
…and after!
The team also cleared the steps leading down from the Rail Trail to the river below. These steps were then filled with aggregate to keep them level.
Another area of the path was filled with aggregate to smooth out a depression in the path which tends to flood in wet weather.
Finally, the team used shovels to remove grass and weeds and extend the width of the path in a 100m section, to allow more space for dog walkers, cyclists and visitors to the area.
Thank you to Eve Lakin, Verity McKay, Serena Mawson, Helen Stoller and Anna Burns who gave up their Saturday morning to help out.
We love the community that we work in and it is great to be able to help with a project that is beneficial to everyone in our local area.
