Legal aid contributes to paying for all or some of the costs required in your family law case. This can cover a relationship breakdown; child arrangements, child abduction and divorce
To be entitled to legal aid you must prove you are a victim of domestic abuse, or that your child is at risk of harm. This is in addition to evidencing that you and can’t afford legal advice based on your financial circumstances.
Your type of case will be considered if you have met the specific criteria required to apply for legal aid. This testing approach involves providing evidence which includes: documentation to prove whether you’re on benefits, including statements; details of your income; accounts of your savings and spending, including payslips and bank statements; and your national insurance number.
