The first step is to gather together all of your loved ones financial informations including bank accounts. It is now possible to apply for a lot of this information online, if you are concerned about social distancing.
We will use the information to complete the relevant inheritance tax declarations and the Probate application forms. These will need to be signed by you to enable us to apply for the Grant of Probate.
We will receive the Grant of Probate from the District Probate Registry which will allow us to settle your loved one’s estate and distribute it according to their wishes.
In the wake of the Coronavirus pandemic in 2020 and the lockdown of UK citizens, law firms were forced to rethink the way that they provided their traditional services and functions.
At Poole Alcock, we have always been able to offer a remote service and we can offer advice through telephone consultations, video conferencing or e-mail. We understand that losing a loved one is a very difficult time, made all the worse by the requirement to stay at home during this crisis. We can support you and take the legal burden off your shoulders. We are able to carry out all meetings over telephone or video conferencing and provide all documents to you by e-mail, if this is your preference.
We offer a ‘grant only’ service where we will prepare all documentation and help you to obtain the Grant of Probate. We offer fixed fees for this service which start at £1,000 (plus VAT).
We also offer a full estate administration service. For this our fixed fee is calculated with reference to the gross estate value as follows:
Please note that for small estates where the gross value is below £100,000, the fixed fee will be based on a 5% charge.
Our lawyers are experienced in providing a remote service for clients that are unable to leave their home. We can carry out the entire estate administration process by e-mail, telephone or video-conference.
Our lawyers are all experienced in probate and estate administration work and are consistently recommended by their clients.
We have lawyers who are members of the Society of Trusts and Estate Practitioners (STEP) and Solicitors for the Elderly (SFE).
